2008 Christmas Bird Count

It is almost that time of year again...time to get up unreasonably early, layer up in as many articles of warm clothing you can move in, head out into the cold (at least here in Wisconsin)and count birds! 2008 will be my second year participating in CBC. I'm counting with fellow Enderis Park Bird Club members Joe & Nola Devereaux and Julie Ristow. We're meeting at 7:30 am on Saturday, Dec. 20th at Cranky Al's on North Avenue...Join Us! Bird Photography Weekly #15

My featured bird this week is the Bobolink. I photographed this fellow in May 2008 at the Horicon Marsh,during their annual birding festival. More than 290 species have been documented at Horicon Marsh making it one of the top birding hotspots in the Upper Midwest. I photographed this Yellow-headed Blackbird on Big Muskego Lake in southeastern Wisconsin last summer. It was the first time I went out in search of a specific bird. The end of daylight savings time brings sunset to southeastern Wisconsin just before 5 pm these days. This was the scene as I left my office the other day, headed for home.
