Bird Photography Weekly

Happy New Year everyone! This lovely Flicker was photographed in northern Wisconsin, obviously in warmer weather. I was in the frozen northwoods last week and enjoyed the constant company of the chickadees, goldfinches, nuthatches (white and red breasted), the downy, hairy and pileated woodpeckers, the blue jays, even a pair of purple finches for a couple of days. Really looking forward to May and spring migration. Find more fantastic bird photos at Bird Photography Weekly.

  1. Nice photo of the Flicker. You saw a good number of species last week. Hard to understand (from down here in sunny Australia) how anything can survive in that cold!

  2. Love the flicker. I always enjoy seeing them out and about.

  3. We have the red shafted race and they have a red facial stripe in contrast to your black malar or stripe. Interesting variations in life. Everything is so similar but different in the same moment.
